Dare to Spin and Flip: The Art of Trick Skiing
Trick skiing is the most technical of the three events in competitive three-event water skiing. Trick skis are short and wide. They lack a bottom fin, thereby making them very slippery in the water. Skiers learn a series of tricks on one or two trick skis or with their foot in a special toe-hold handle (requiring a pin puller). Beginner trick skiers usually start on two skis to learn the basic tricks: side slide, 180, and 360. Advanced trick skiers work on one ski tricks or toe tricks. From 360s to 180s while jumping the wake and even flips, skiers work on their 20-second routine to gain the most points possible at tournaments.
