Lake St. Louis Water Ski Club
The Lake Saint Louis Ski Club was founded in 1975 by local residents. They had one goal in mind: to use this beautiful amenity in our community to teach people to ski. Nowhere else can a family of four join a team and be an integral part of an activity together.
My first year as a member of the Lake St. Louis Water Ski Club was in 1987. My family moved here from Maryland and joined this team of families doing this very unique activity. I was 7 years old and I learned to ski on Junior Line.
I went on to try everything the club had to offer, trick skiing, jump, ballet line, kneeboard, pyramid, ATB (Around the Boat), and more. My mom, Sandy Berisford, was a boat driver for the team. My dad was very involved and volunteered on land. I have so many fond memories of my parents and I doing this activity together.
And now, all these years later I have returned to Lake St. Louis with my husband and daughter and we are enjoying the activity together. It truly is the best place to raise a family.
frequently asked questions
1975. Our team would practice at "Starting Dock" off Dauphine. The jump used to be placed in the cove between The Moorings and Dauphine. The team would "land" in the water for all practices and pull themselves up on the docks. The ski shows were held every 4th of July at the Community Association Clubhouse beach.
For the child who may not excel in school experiences who can benefit from their potential as a skier to help with their confidence building. For the adult skier who discovers a new passion. For the family skiing together to bridge the gap between adults and teens. Being a part of a team, making friends, seeing that smile on the child’s face who has just climbed to the top of the pyramid, landed their first successful jump, first time up on two skis, etc. These experiences are full of so many “firsts” and lots of hard work that is both character building and inspiring.
Anyone! We will teach you to ski, you do not have any background in water sports. This includes adults! Families can both learn to ski together! If you do not want to be on the water, we have plenty of jobs on land.
We need volunteers for costumes, music, equipment repair, prop making, script, announcing, boat driving, rope handling, dock personnel, choreography, publicity, coaching, membership, social activities, safety, accounting, traveling site coordination, show directing, and MORE!
Registration opens annually on January 1st for the following ski season. If you are interested in becoming a member this year or before then, please reach out to Randy Landman, our Membership Director or any board member for assistance.
You can join as many lines as you want. Your membership and skier fee include all lines. For the Show Me Skier shows held at Jefferson point you can only pick 3 lines to ski on due to time constraints. But spend your season learning to ski on Men’s Line, doing Duos or Trios, Pyramid, swivel, Jump, ATB (Around the Boat), wakeboard, barefoot, etc. Do as many as you want, but only pick 3 to show off at the shows.
We have many ways and options to become a financial supporter of the Lake Saint Louis Water Ski Club. Reach out to our Vice President, Emily Thibodeau or any board member for assistance.
our mission
The Lake Saint Louis Water Ski Club is a not-for-profit 501c3 organization promoting the sport of water skiing while representing the community of Lake Saint Louis. It is comprised of three groups: Arch Rivals, Show-Me Skiers, and 3-Event.
We play a role in the community by empowering young people and their families through a sport activity that promotes positive values, healthy habits, and teamwork.
All participants—skiers, rope handlers, dock helpers, drivers, spotters, sound, and stage—exemplify a passion for the sport that often goes unrecognized.
